We can help you apply for an N.I.E.number (Número de Identidad/Identificación de Extranjero) which is similar to a UK national insurance or social security number. This is your identification number in Spain.  It is needed in order to buy property, file taxes, establish a business, open a bank account and for almost any other form you fill out.

N.I.F.(Número  de identitad Fiscal) Fiscal number Spanish law requires you to have an NIF number when you own a car, house or business in Spain or if you are employed.

C.I.F (Certificado de Identificación Fiscal) This is the same as the NIF, but for companies.Social Security Number: Your employer applies for this number when you start your first job in Spain.  This number then stays with you for all subsequent jobs.  If you are self-employed, you apply for this number yourself.

Residencia – Work Permit and Right to reside. If you have Residencia you can have a residence bank account which has a number of advantages, like a slightly cheaper mortgage rate and beneficial borrowing terms (up to an 80% mortgage rather than 60%)

Empadronamiento – the equivalent of being on the electoral role as together with another form it allows you to vote, join the library and other local institutions. You will need your passport and a rental contract of the house you are renting or your ‘Escritura’ (Deed to your house) to obtain this.

We can help you obtain the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC will entitle you to emergency medical health benefits for up to 3 months. It will not cover you for most types of non-urgent treatment such as treatment for ongoing conditions. If you are retiring to Spain, or have specific medical conditions like diabetes, then you will also need the S1 form. Once registered with the Spanish authorities, the S1 gives you and your dependants the same medical cover in Spain as a Spanish national under the Spanish state-run health scheme. We can help you join the Spanish social security system which is much like the British one, in that you pay your contributions every month, and that entitles you to a pension, unemployment benefit, sick pay, maternity pay and the right to receive free healthcare.Alternatively we can also advise you on private health insurance plans.

b) Voting in Spanish and UK elections. As a foreigner, you can vote in Spain’s municipal and European Parliamentary elections if you’re an official resident of Spain AND a citizen of the European Union OR a citizen of a country with which Spain has a reciprocity agreement. We can help you fill in a form with you so that you are legible to vote. Keep in mind that if you can vote in Spain, then you can run for office too! As a British citizen living abroad, you can vote in general UK elections and European Parliamentary elections.

c) Renewing Passports. We can print out the forms in the office and help you process them. A 32-page passport from Spain costs- €160

d) Telephone calls made on your behalf. Do you need to make a phone call in Spanish but lack the ability to understand exactly what is being said to you? We can do this for you. We regularly speak to builders, phone companies, and electricity companies on behalf of clients. We can also translate by phone; you can call us to speak with you and then the other person without the need to come into the office.

e) Help with setting up an association, applying for grants. We know how to set up an Association, Local or National, Environmental or Neighbourhood. Associations have a lot of power in Spain and there are clear benefits in setting one up. There are plans and projects, subsidies and grants. Come in and talk to us if you are interested in setting one up or are interested in understanding how they work.

f) Help with all manner of official bureaucracy. No job is too big or too small. From filling in forms and applications to filing complaints with customer services.

g) Booking tickets for the Alhambra, flights etc. The Alhambra palace in Granada, southern Spain, is the most important work of art dating from the last Islamic sultanate in the Iberian peninsular. The Nasrid Dynasty (1238 – 1492), who was responsible for the building of the palace, combined artistic and cultural activities with their constant policy of military campaigns and pacts, thus maintaining a strong united state. The Alhambra palace reflects their philosophy and way of living and is truly worth a visit if you are in the area.It is always worthwhile booking Alhambra tickets in advance as demand is on the up for this, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world. Just contact us with a credit card and we will be able to book your tickets for when it is convenient for you. You will then be provided with a reference number that you take to the palace ticket office where you will be issued with your tickets.

h). We can help you with the paperwork to set up a post office box in Órgiva. This can only be done in January and many people are away at this time. We can do this for you if you are out of the country.

To renew the Post box every year you need to pay in January. We can pay for this on your behalf if you are away.
