Spanish Residency and NIE numbers

Residency is now a legal requirement if you spend more than 6 months of any year in Spain. We can help you with the legal aspects and tax implications of being resident, and give advice on what this status would mean for you. We can also help with assembling the documents and filling out the forms you require to become resident. If you are unable to complete this procedure yourself, you can give us a power of attorney to obtain the document on your behalf.

The NIE number (Número de Identificación Extranjero) is, as it says, a foreigner’s identification number in Spain. This is the precursor to becoming resident, but can also stand alone if you don’t actually spend much time in Spain and is now essential if you want to buy property, a car, or pay your taxes. Both residency and the NIE number are easily obtained through the police following our instructions.
